COMPATABILITY OF DAMAGE

A collision occurred between two vehicles. The Hackney Carriage on the left is alleged to have ran into the rear of the vehicle in front. Despite exchanging details at the scene the Taxi driver denied the collision occurred and his insurer, armed with an engineer’s report, denied liability.

It was decided to bring both vehicles together when it was found that there was compatibility of height. Whilst there was no apparent damage to the front bumper of the Taxi a detailed examination revealed characteristic surface scuffing of the painted bumper cover.

Following up on details obtained from the front number plate on the taxi it was discovered that the number plate had been purchased locally the day following the collision.

This proved to be a case where the guilty party had decided to “try it on” with his insurer and was found out.
